ウィルパットゥ国立公園

説明

この公園の地形的特徴は、その内部に点在する「絨毛」または「湖」です。公園の特定の区画に限定されているにもかかわらず、非常に多様な銅赤色のローム質土壌が際立っています。公園西部は深い森林地帯と棘のある低木に覆われており、スリランカ南部のヤラ国立公園を彷彿とさせます。3月と4月のモンスーン合間の雨季、5月から9月上旬にかけての広範囲にわたる干ばつ、そして9月から12月にかけての激しい雨季（北部モンスーン）が特徴です。長期記録によると、年間平均気温は27.2℃、年間降水量は約1,000mmです。.
Three vegetation types can be recognized: Littoral vegetation, including salt grass and low scrub directly near to the beach, a 5-10km coastal belt of monsoon scrub of extremely low stature, and further inland, monsoon forest with tall emergent.
A sum of 31 species of mammals have been reported, but different species of Rodentia and Chiroptera are undoubtedly present. Among the most essential reptiles are common.
