Sierociniec dla słoni Pinnawala, established in 1975, is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife conservation centers.
It was created to care for orphaned, injured, and abandoned elephants and today is home to the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.

The orphanage is open year-round. The best time to visit is during the **feeding times (9:15 am & 1:15 pm)** and **river bathing sessions (10 am & 2 pm)**.
