Les chutes de Laxapana culminent à 126 mètres de hauteur. Elles se classent ainsi au huitième rang des plus hautes chutes d'eau du pays, surpassées seulement par des géantes comme les chutes de Dunhinda et de Babarakanda. Elles se situent à Nuwara Eliya, dans la région de Maskeliya, tout près du petit village de Kiriwan Eliya. Les chutes de Laxapana sont formées par la rivière Maskeliya Oya, à l'endroit précis où elle rejoint la Kehelgamu Oya pour former la célèbre rivière Kelani. Aujourd'hui, les chutes donnent leur nom aux centrales hydroélectriques de Laxapana, situées à proximité l'une de l'autre. Ces centrales constituent d'importantes sources d'énergie pour tout le pays.
