Roocastle Wire Bridge – Kitulgala
-
History & Culture
Description
This wire bridge is a marvellous creation which is famous among both local and foreign tourists. It is considered to have been built by the British colonizers centuries ago. The bridge's significance is that it is the only wire bridge utilized as a driveway in Sri Lanka. Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council has done repairs while it was severely destroyed. The scenic location of the bridge gives the most concise way of conjugating Panawala, Hingurala Kanda, Pambegama and Godagampala villages with the Deraniyagala region.
