There are several waterfalls in the region surrounding Belihuloya.
Pahanthudawa Ella waterfalls, or Galagama Ella, is a waterfall with a base resembling an oil lamp and is 4.6 metres (15 feet) tall. The Sinhala word “pahana” means “lamp,” which is whence Pahanthuda gets its name. It is around 0.93 miles (1.54 km) from Belihuloya.

At 263 metres (863 feet), Bambarakanda Ella (sometimes spelt Bambarakele Ella) is Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall and the 299th tallest in the world. Approximately 18 kilometres (11 miles) separate it from Belihuloya.

Surathalee Ella is more accurately described as a water slide than a waterfall. This water slip is formed when water flows down the eastern slope of Mount Ellamana and follows the contours of a rock wall for a distance of around 20 metres (66 feet). Distance from Belihuloya is 8 km (5.0 mi).

As it rushes down the eastern slopes of Mt. Papulagala (1530m), the tributary of Weli Oya forms many cascades among the trees of the surrounding monsoon forest, giving the area its name of Brampton Falls. This waterfall is around 6 metres (20 feet) tall and is situated among several lesser waterfalls. It’s about 6.25 miles (10 km) away from Belihuloya.

Papulagala Ella may be found on the slopes of Mt. Papulagala in the Brampton Estate (Tea Plantation). This waterfall, created by a creek during the rains, is roughly 30 metres (98 feet) tall. Lower Hiralouvah Hirikatuwa Oya may be found around 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) from Belihuloya to the east. The parking lot for this renowned swimming spot is about 2 km down the way to the Non-Periodic State.
