Description
Established ten kilometres inland from Bentota, Brief Garden is the legendary garden and country home of Bevis Bawa and was the garden that inspired his brother, distinguished architect Geoffrey Bawa to create Lunuganga. The park, which has been disclosed to the public since 1970, resembles an enchanting place from a fantasy novel and presents a beautiful space in which to lose yourself for a few hours. With over 106 various kinds of trees recorded on this 20-acre property and hundreds of other fauna still being counted today, the garden is a must-see for those with an intense interest in landscape design.
The house itself used to be the home of Bevis Bawa, a sibling of the great architect Geoffrey Bawa and portrays Sri Lankan life in the most vivid way possible.
