Description
The Nine Arch Bridge stands proudly as a sign of the plan and structural brilliance of the 20th century. Ideally located between the Ella and Demodara railway station, those who want to walk along the Bridge will be performed with rolling hills and dense jungle views to enjoyment in.
The Nine Arch Bridge, likewise known as the ‘Bridge in the Sky’, combined two big hills when building the Badulla – Colombo railway. The Bridge above is 300 feet in distance, 25 feet in diameter and 80-100 feet in height. It is one of the best models of colonial-era railway developments in the country. The Bridge can be reached by travelling 2km on Gotuwala road beginning from Halpe Textile centre in Badulla Bandarawela road. The surrounding area has seen a constant rise in tourism due to the Bridge’s architectural imagination and the profuse greenery in the nearby hills.
Arguably the most suitable time to venture out would be when the trains come barrelling along, and thus it is reasonable to check on the train schedule in advance. Furthermore, be sure to carry your trusty cam with you so that you can take every moment that discloses ere you.
