Negombo Dutch Fort
Description
Negombo Dutch Fort is located in the City of Negombo. Initially a Portuguese formulation, it was restored by the Dutch after they caught that city. Although the fort now occupies in remains, it has played quite a task in its colonial history.
The Dutch Fort is near a bay and the Esplanade, a field that witnesses several cricket matches. The famous Negombo fish market occupies its region. After its acquisition by the British, the fort was almost completely demolished to build a prison, which continues to be in use today. History of the Negombo Dutch Fort
The Dutch East India Company built the Negombo Dutch Fort in the 17th century during their colonization of Sri Lanka.
