Sri Singama Kali Amman Kovil – Negombo
Sri Singama Kali Amman Kovil in Negombo is a Hindu religious site dedicated to the Hindu God Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings.
Ganesh is traditionally worshipped before any significant enterprise is undertaken and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors.
The centre of this kovil is beautiful—bright and airy, with a low tower adorned with statues and bas-reliefs. Inner, the central sanctuary has a statue of Ganesha.
Around the perimeter of the temple, there are several separate columns with statues of different deities.
The remarkable murals and sculptures of the temple make it a site well worth visiting!
