Balapitiya Beach, in the Southern Province, is only 90 kilometres from the busy city of Colombo. It's also only an easy 18 kilometres to drive to the famous Bentota Beach. The fact that it is easy to get to and the beauty and peace it offers make it a favourite among both tourists and locals.

From Colombo, take McCallum Road and turn right onto Kynsey Road to start your trip. Next, turn right onto Athurugiriya Road and then a left onto the Southern Expressway. Once you get off at the Dodangoda junction, go straight ahead on the Aluthgama–Mathugama Road and turn left onto Colombo Road. After one last right turn, you'll reach your peaceful location.

From Ambalangoda, take the Ambalangoda–Batapola Road and turn left onto the Maha Vihara Road. After a short time, take a right turn onto Colombo Road. This will take you straight to the peaceful Balapitiya Beach.
