Thaliya watuna Ella waterfall – Madulkelle
Thaliya watuna Ella waterfall, also known as the Alakola Ella waterfall, is located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka in Madulkelle. The name Alakola Ella has been a source from its older name Allen Collin Watte Ella. Allen Collin was an agriculturist during the British administration, and this neighbouring waterfall region was under him and referred to as Allen Collin Watte. However, when the locals vocalised this name, there was a difference in the pitch, and ultimately, it became Alakola Watte. The Alakola Ella lies in this Alakola Watte estate in the Knuckles mountain range. Since it derived its name seldom, it is also referred to as Thaliya Wetuna Ella. It is formed from a branch of the Hulu Ganga starting in the Knuckles mountain range.
The traveller requires to take a short hike to arrive at the waterfall. The trail to the waterfall leads you through glorious tea hills, and you will also cross a vegetated forest. You will start listening to the sound of the water flowing while you walk through this broad range, and there you arrive at the cascade.
