The Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka has announced that the online visa portal (www.srilankaevisa.lk) has been deactivated effective immediately due to certain interim orders issued by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka regarding the agreement under which the platform operates. This suspension took effect on August 2nd at 17:00 Sri Lanka Standard Time.
What You Need to Know:
1️⃣ Visa Options:
- Tourists can still obtain visas through Sri Lankan diplomatic missions or upon arrival at the port of entry. Visa fees remain unchanged.
2️⃣ On-Arrival Visa Restrictions:
- On-arrival visas are not available for nationals of Afghanistan, Syria, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, North Korea, and Myanmar. These nationals must apply for visas through a representative at the Head Office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration.
3️⃣ Fee-Free Visas:
- Nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan, who are eligible for fee-free visas, can obtain them on arrival free of charge.
4️⃣ Temporary Measures:
- These provisions will remain in effect until further notice. Please plan your travels accordingly and stay updated for further announcements.
For those who applied for a visa on August 2nd after 17:00 hours Sri Lanka Standard Time, refunds will be issued. Please share your application reference number by emailing [email protected].
