About Nine Arch Bridge

The 300-foot-long Bridge is constructed of solid rock and bricks. Its nine arches, built using a mix of stone and brick, are why it is known as the Nine Arch Bridge. Large columns embedded in the rocky landscape of the Ella Gap support the arches.

The Nine Arch Bridge construction was a significant endeavour that called for the expertise of some of the best engineers of the period. Elephants moved heavy equipment and construction personnel to the Bridge’s construction site and other conventional construction techniques and tools.
